NOTE: This is the 1st missive in the new subsection I am calling Political Spews. If you do not wish to be subjected to my political observations & opinions, feel free to opt out (but keep the Thoughts Of An Old Woman …. I’ll keep it basically free from politics).
If I allow myself to think about it, I start to anticipate tonights free range presidential press briefing. I truly believe it will be the deal breaker for all involved - stick with Biden (if he pulls off a fairly descent event) or totally cut ties. If it’s the latter, the vast variety of ways the Dems decide to go will be daunting at best.
I can see it now … The Reps will have their popcorn ready, planning on watching the most important figure in the world self-implode. And if it does happen, there will be parties with free flowing champaign, caviar from foreign countries, and an ego glow as bright as the sun over Washington. If Biden pulls it off, it’ll be off to bed for him to recoup from all the activities of hosting NATO, then the presser.
What a world we live in, eh?
Before I sold my house last year, I had a staunch Rep neighbor who was also stockpiled for doomsday. Our homes were in a retirement village, so everyone was at least 55 years old. Trump flags were flying everywhere. But this one man, who did not choose to air his dirty linen, er, I mean, any political indications for all to see, was one awesome person to talk to about politics. Maybe my being an Ind helped because there are some things we didn’t disagree about, but not many.
You see, this particular Rep was from the McCain era. We may see things differently, but we kindly agreed to disagree and even tease each other on occasion. This is the kind of REAL Rep that seems to now be rapidly fading in to that glaring yet mesmerizing sunset. You know the one - that “come with me, all is going to be just fine” type of sunset.
If only.
Just remember - it’s not just our nation at stake folks. It’s the entire global world as we know it. Now, I know the MAGAs don’t give a rats arse as to anyone outside the borders of USA. Hell, they couldn’t care less about anyone at all unless they get something out of it. But reality is, it matters immensely. And while the rest of the free world nations look to be kicking the hell out of the extreme conservatives trying to overrule their countries, here we are, making total fools of ourselves - on BOTH sides of the isle.
Seems like some non-Reps became so comfortable with the status quo while others just got lazy and didn’t even try to speak their mind (aka VOTE!!!). We are experiencing the Dems hiding reality and the Reps dealing violence and retribution. Both are extremely detrimental for every single citizen outside of the top 400.
Some random thoughts:
The Dems have only themselves to blame for their predicament. The testosterone driven “if I can’t see it, it’s not real” problem can always be proven wrong.
The Reps (also testosterone driven) bad habit of “if I say it (or in Trumps case “think it”) then it’s fact” is just as stupid, and also disproven.
Many SCOTUS members are literally on the take. How can folks not see that? Oh, wait ….. see above.
Christian Nationalists - that’s a whole ‘nuther topic that I hope to delve in to soon. Stinks so bad I’ve been trying to avoid it. I mean, there’s so much happening, it’s like my days as a medic in the aftermath of a Cat 5 hurricane. Immediately triage the hell outta the situation and immediately start HELPING folks.
I’ll probably send out more after tonight’s presser. Unless it’s like the debate, when I was in a mental “my brain is broken” state for a couple of days.
